Cédric (on the right) is the grandson of the founders of SWS. Very close personally and personality wise, he decided to quit his engineering career to dedicate his time to the tourism industry and give a new life to SWS.
Why this radical career change?
I have always loved to travel, meet new people, practice outside sport, discover nature and create adventures. I felt the need to set things right. I wanted to make a bigger environmental impact. I want to promote ecological and alternative traveling and be a change actor to make a difference in the mentalities starting by the moment when you are in holiday, when you have time and are open to trying something different.
Where does it come from?
“I have been traveling by myself since a really young age. Being sent alone from Belgium to Portugal on the plane at six years old to visit my grandparents was not typical in the 90's.
My family has been all over the world since I was born, so I see the world as one big family... Read more
A note from Eric - "I fell in love" with the Algarve, as a teenager backpacker in 1984.
10 years later I moved to the Algarve to work there as an IT manager, living and raising our mixed Belgian / Portuguese family.
I met Sylvia and Henry, (the grandparents of the new Somewhere-Special manager and creators of the Somewhere-Special concept) 20 years ago and we became friends.
I returned to Belgium in 2012 and missed the Algarve's climate and pace of life.
In the beginning of 2018 the new management team proposed I joined the Somewhere-Special team in the Algarve. Initally, taking care of the guests during their stay and making sure the quality of service we were providing is the best we can acheive (which is an ongoing work in progress).
I was very happy to be able to return to the Algarve I like so much, and be able to work with such a nice team. Whilst keeping Sylvia Gygax's legacy alive and welcoming our guests as she would have done
A message from Adele - I lived in Portugal for 15 years before returning to the UK in 2015, my journey in the holiday Industry started in 2000 and I have a wealth of experience, working with a diverse range of guests over the years, from all over the globe.
I have learned so much, but I think the most valuable thing I have learnt is managing our guests expectations, with genuine honesty and care. I understand that holiday's are really important and something people really look forward to.
I aim to make all our guests experience with Somewhere-special one they wish to repeat, by being friendly, pro active and compassionate. Many of our repeat guests have become friends over the years, as I have watched their families grow.
I feel very privileged to be part of the Somewhere-Special team, making our guests holiday's Something Special and sharing in the wonderful memories our holiday homes help to create :-)
